This year has been one of challenges and unknowns. Many have lost jobs, kids are at home, away from friends and many have lost loved ones. In my lifetime, this is the only time I can say, every person on the planet has been touched.

Personally, my husband and I have been healthy and rarely sick, but this year our health status changed. I battled extreme symptoms of anxiety, racing heart and insomnia due to hyperthyroidism. There were other symptoms as well, but these were the most severe. During the midst of dealing with it and going to specialists, my husband was getting short of breath. To give you a reader's digest version of the outcomes, I had a diseased thyroid and my husband had a tumor on his heart.

I went through about 10 months of excruciating symptoms and my husband ended up with three surgeries over six months. Why did this happen to two healthy individuals?

In this computer age, we can ascertain information with the click of a keystroke. Yet, sometimes no matter what we do to understand and figure things out in life, we just can't make sense of situations. We need to look higher for the answers. Even then, we will not always know "the whys" of difficult situations. If I have learned anything in life, it is "sometimes we will just not understand everything which happens". God doesn't promise us answers, but he does promise not to ever leave or forsake us. (There are at least 100 scriptures attesting to this promise).

As I have been reflecting on this past year, a poem came to mind which I have held onto over 30 years. I wanted to share it with you. Most people have been touched by the pandemic in one fashion or another. Depression is at an all time high! Sometimes it helps to stop and reflect on who holds the world in His hands and remember, no matter what is happening in our lives, God has good plans for us.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

The Weaver

My Life is but a weaving

between my Lord and me,

I cannot choose the colors

He worketh steadily.

Often times he weaveth sorrow,

And I in foolish pride

Forget He sees the upper

And I, the underside.

Not till the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly

Shall God unroll the canvas

And explain the reason why

The dark threads are as needful

In the Weaver's skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned.

He views each one of us as a unique and beautiful tapestry

God loves each one of us more than we can ever imagine! If you are here and reading this post, I would encourage you to take some time and reflect on God and His amazing work in you!

Ephesians 2:10, NIV: "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Think about your passions, desires and dreams. Lay them at the feet of His throne and see what amazing threads He weaves in your life! You may not see it in your current circumstances, but give "The Weaver "a chance to make a beautiful tapestry of your life!
