God is the God of creation and each of us is made in His image. Many times people do not recognize creative ability's within themselves. Everyone has creativity planted inside of them.
I remember a very gifted art teacher who impacted my oldest daughter and changed the trajectory of her life. She had said she wanted to be a veterinarian, then she found life and what she loved most in creating art.
When she came home and showed me her art I was flabbergasted! I could not believe the expertise in her art at such a young age. I am thankful for this teacher. She impacted all my kids by her amazing ability to teach and draw out the best creativity in my kids. When my oldest decided to major in art, I fully supported her and still do. However, not all of society and parents support an art career. Even if artistic endeavors are not your full time job, all of us can impact the world around us through creative endeavors.
We are in a time where God is calling forth creativity and raising up artists. His heart is to see art glorify Him. He wants artists to support and encourage each other and allow Him to work in each one for His purposes.
I have always been a crafter and creative, but I have never thought of myself as an artist. Yet God has been nudging me to pursue learning art and expressing that creativity to glorify Him and bless others. I have been taking on-line tutorials and learning as much as I can. I am still in the beginning of my journey, but I can tell I am making progress. I am learning to enjoy the journey.
Lately, I have been learning about and delving into mixed media art. The term “mixed media” is used to describe artworks composed of a combination of different materials used to create mixed media art which include, but are not limited to paint, cloth, paper, wood and found objects.
Pictured below is a recent Mixed Media Piece

Each of us is a new creation through Christ.
This Mixed Media Piece reminds us from Proverbs 3:5 to Trust in God and not our own understanding.

I learned to make this from Heather with the Craft Shack on Youtube.
I learned to make this butterfly during Rebecca Page's Paper Crafts Summit 2021.
The teacher was Shemi Dixion.

Mixed Media Journals
I started getting into mixed media by watching a tutorial on Craftsy by an artist named Vicky Papaioannou . You can find her her tutorials on her youtube channel. She is from Greece and didn't start out as an artist. If you want to learn more about her, go to her website Clips-n-cuts.
Below you will see some of the projects I have made with Vicky's tutorials.

I really enjoyed making all of these. Sometimes I am a bit impatient because mixed media requires allowing layers to dry. Making mixed media is a process, but I have to say, I have been pleased with the results.
I would like to encourage you to dive into creativity by doing something you enjoy. You never know, there may be an artist inside you.
Happy Creating,
Melanie
