Frozen Strawberry Punch

Spring is a time many are planning for weddings or graduation parties. Punch and cake is a must at many celebrations. Honestly, I have never been a fan of those punches with frozen sherbet floating on top. I know many people love it, but just not my tastes. I was given this Frozen Strawberry Punch recipe over 30 years ago. It is STILL my favorite punch recipe! I have used it for my own wedding, my cousins wedding, wedding and baby showers, graduation celebrations and other festive occasions requiring punch.

The unique aspect of this recipe is, you can make it ahead of the occasion and freeze for weeks or even months. I have pulled out leftover punch many months after we served it and it still tasted great! If decreasing your prep time for your special celebration is a priority for you, then this is the punch recipe to meet that priority!

It is so convenient to make ahead of time and then place a bag of frozen punch in the punch bowl on the day of the event and simply pour Ginger Ale over it. It serves up with a beautiful pinkish color, with floating strawberries. If that was not good enough, it tastes Awesome! It is very fruity and cold. This is a nice punch to serve especially on a hot day. Extremely refreshing!

I have always received compliments on this Frozen Strawberry Punch. If you have an important event like a wedding, shower, graduation or other celebratory event, I highly recommend it!

Frozen Strawberry Punch Recipe

4 cups sugar

4 cups water

16 oz. bag frozen strawberries

5 bananas

1-6 oz. can frozen lemonade concentrate

1-12 oz. can frozen orange juice concentrate

1-46 oz. can pineapple juice

4 Liter Bottles of Ginger-al (You may want to chill before event).

Combine water and sugar into a pan, boil for 5 minutes, set aside and cool.

Next put bananas and half of strawberries in blender, add lemonade and orange juice concentrate while frozen. Next add pineapple juice and water-sugar mixture. Mix all ingredients together in blender.

(You may need to half or 1/4 the ingredients unless you have a huge blender).

*Tip. I usually mix this in a large pitcher or tall pan combining all the ingredients after each mixing in the blender. This will ensure all the ingredients get blended well.

** You can substitute sugar free Ginger ale if you wish to lower sugar and calories.

Add reserved Strawberries to mixture. Do not blend. This added element to the punch really gives it an extra special touch when served. The strawberries will thaw with the punch ingredients making a beautiful drink.

Use large measuring cup pour equal amounts of liquid into gallon size Ziplock bags. Freeze punch. (Be sure to lay flat when freezing. It will make it easier and quicker to thaw the punch prior to serving it.) This can be made up ahead of the event. Transport in coolers if you are traveling with it.

When ready to serve, place one bag bag of punch in punch bowl to thaw. It is ok if there are some chunky frozen pieces. Makes it good. When ready to serve, pour 1 liter of ginger ale over it and stir. (Have a bag thawing so it will be ready when you replenish the punch.)

Serves: 43- 5 oz. cups or 36-6 oz. cups

Enjoy your special occasion!

Melanie
