Decorating for Christmas in our house is done by my husband, Al. He is otherwise referred to as "Martha Stewart". He loves to do the decorating and I love it, too. I take care of all the gift wrapping and he takes care of the decorating.

In our home we have two Christmas trees. One is called "The Martha Stewart Tree" and the other my husband named, "The Hobo Tree". Now, I didn't particularly agree with his label for "our tree", the kids and mine. I fondly refer to it as the "Family Tree" because it is filled with ornaments of remembrance. Each year our three children would get a new ornament for the tree. Sometimes the ornament would depict a vacation memory of that year, or an achievement or even a loss of a beloved pet. The miss-matched ornaments have always been a delight for us to review each year and talk about their meaning.

That is until now. Our kids are grown now and took their beloved ornaments with them.(Which was the point of getting a new ornament each year). Last year we ONLY put up the "Martha Tree". There has been an adjustment at our house being "empty nesters". This year, I decided, no more "Hobo Tree!"

I didn't want to overspend, so I went to dollar tree to gather decorations to give "The Hobo Tree" a face lift. I would like to share with you what I found. Pictured below is the tree with lights on it. Thanks to my husband for putting it up!

I had seen ornaments at the Dollar Store and I really thought I could pull this off. I arrived at the Dollar Tree and began my quest. I first found ornaments in red and gold. Some had glitter on them. I love glitter! Next, I found poinsettias and some of them also had glitter. I really love poinsettias at Christmas, but with four kitties in the house who love to chew on plants, it was not worth it. Getting these artificial ones could be used to decorate the tree!

Next I found sheer gold ribbon to wrap around the tree. The last item on my list was a bag of hooks to hang the ornaments. I spent around $11.00. No too bad.

I decorated the tree with my Dollar Tree decorations and then added some of my ornaments. I didn't plan it, but most of the ones I choose were kitty ornaments. Madeline, my middle daughter came over and said, "You have a cat Christmas tree!"

It may not be a "Martha Stewart Tree", but even my husband approved. He said, "I like the way you put the ribbon around the tree and he told me it looked really nice!

I know you must be wondering what this "Marth Stewart Tree looks like". Below is a picture, I know you must be in suspense.

Here is the "Martha Stewart Tree".

Today when I took this picture, two of our kitties decided to sit in chairs beside the "Martha Tree". I titled this picture, "Kitty Christmas!"

Merry Christmas,

Melanie
