The holidays bring found memories and awesome scents from the kitchen. Making food gifts are a sweet way to show your love. I have some ideas to get your creativity flowing.

Idea to Package Food

  1. Buy clear decorative plates to give as a gift with your homemade goods. Use shrink wrap to seal it and add a tag and a bow. A Christmas ornament can add a special touch.

Choose the food you want to place on a plate, tray or other special container. You can purchase decorative plates at Dollar Stores, groceries, department stores and craft stores. I saw some really cute Holiday plates for $1.50 at our local grocery tonight.

Foods which plate nicely are cookies, bars, candy, slices of bread and pecan tassies.

2. I have always loved the smell of bread baking in the oven. Making bread and putting together a gift basket with the bread, a homemade or store bought spread, decorative knife, cookies and holiday napkin is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

The picture above features baked bread, Christmas tree spreading knife, decorative cheese container and a napkin folded in the shape of a Christmas tree.

3. Decorative Holiday boxes are a nice compact way to package baked good and candies. Just add a tag and bow or ornament to make it look fancy.

In the above picture, one of the boxes has a napkin folded as a bow with an ornaments hanging from the bow. The goodie box has cookies in it, but the napkin and ornament are an extra gift for someone.

4. Decorative cellophane bags can be used to package baked goods or to keep baked goods fresh and packed in another container.

These can be purchased at Craft, Dollar and Department stores.

5. Decorative tins are a way to package baked goods and ensure freshness. I cut out parchment paper to lay on top of the tin and onto of decorative tissue paper placed in the containers.

Then I add colorful cupcake liners to hold my baked goods. In this example, I made fudge and truffles.

Fill the tins, put on the lid and tie on a bow and tag. Voila! You have a beautiful and scrumptious gift.

6. Long thin basic white or decorative boxes can be used for cookies or candies. Just line up the cookies or candies in a row. Cover it with plastic wrap and add a bow and tag!

Add a recipe card either blank or with the recipe to share with the recipient.

7. Candy dishes can make a sweet surprise gift filled with candies or cookies. There are inexpensive varieties and some a little more pricey.

Add a bow and tag or place in a gift bag.

8. Mason jars or other decorative glass containers can serve as a gift filled with goodies.

9. Baked breads or cakes are another baked good which can be packaged for a gift.

Buy a colorful ceramic baking dish with bread, wrap in plastic wrap and add a bow and tag.

Baked good can be made in a foil pan, then wrapped and placed in a decorative box with a bow and tag.

10. A box with a see through window is a quick and easy way to pack baked goods.

Just tie it up with a colorful ribbon!
